Henrik Almquist has for several years worked with and written about the value and potential of the existing environment in urban development and renovation. With experience from Stockholm, Paris, and Tokyo, he combines a technical and economic perspective on architecture with an investigative and theoretical depth. He has carried out projects ranging from in-situ dialogues and early design proposals to overseeing the construction process.

At Lund University, he directs the master studio The Renewal of Modernism together with Erik Tonning Jensen, exploring methods and approaches for developing existing buildings, currently focusing on Trelleborg’s vacant town hall. He also assists in the master studio Spatial Experiments and engages with contemporary architectural challenges, including the Lund Architecture Symposium.

Henrik is active in ACAN Sweden on demolition issues, involved in the Swedish launch of the House Europe! legislative proposal, and runs independent projects through his company AAA – Agency for Adaptive Architecture.
