Research

My research centers the evolution of sexual and genetic conflicts. To study these conflicts, I am going to utilize samples and data from a long-term study of Great reed warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus) at Lake Kvismaren. In particular, I will focus on sexually selected traits, the genomic features and the associations to reproductive success.

The project outline comprises:

  1. Genome-wide association study (GWAS).
  2. Parentage analyses to reveal the extra-pair offsprings.
  3. Assignment test to reveal genotypic origin of immigrants.
  4. Whole-genome screening (re-sequencing) to characterize the genome and associate the genomic features to fitness.
  5. Comparative genomics to other related warblers.

Hopefully, the sexual and genetic conflicts and their evolutionary consequences can be better understood.
