In 2008, I defended my thesis El personaje femenino de la novela indigenista, which deals with the female characters in some key Latin American indigenous novels. From my dissertation project I have brought a gender perspective, even if the object of study has changed.

In recent years, my main focus has been on literary transmission, including translation and literary education. Which Spanish-language literature reaches the Swedish reader? Which texts and authors are translated and why? What fiction is used in language teaching in higher education? I am also interested in the dissemination of Swedish literature in the Spanish-speaking world. In collaboration with my colleague in Modern Greek, Marianna Smaragdi, I am looking at literary mediation between Sweden, the Spaish speaking world and Greece.

I mainly teach courses in Spanish and Latin American literature at all levels, from undergraduate to master. Much of my time is devoted to supervising degree projects. I am also responsible for the Spanish specialization of the translation programme at the Centre for Language and Literature. In addition, I am responsible for teacher training in Spanish, within the framework of which I supervise degree projects and make placement visits. Spanish also has its own didactic courses for which I am the responsible teacher. In collaboration with French, since 2014, we offer our student teachers the opportunity to participate in a language teaching seminar with lectures and discussions on research and teaching in modern languages. Together with Malin Ågren, I plan and lead this seminar.
