Research
I have been a midwife since 1980 and doctorated in 2014 with the thesis "Planned home birth in the Nordic countries – womens’ and midwives’ perspective" at the Faculty of Health and Society at Malmö University.
During my years as a midwife in the delivery ward in Ystad the focus has been on the normal birth, which also led me to, during two decades, assist parents who have chosen a homebirth. It paved the way for research about experiences of homebirth in Sweden and the Nordic countries, as my thesis came to be about. I am part of the "Nordic Homebirth Research group", which through web surveys collected data from about 3,000 home births in four Nordic countries, and is what I will devote further research to.
