Personal profile

Research

My research is focused on compositional data analysis, where we study vectors of proportions (compositions). Compositions arise in a number of different areas, e.g. the geochemical compositions of rock specimens, the proportion of expenditures on different commodity groups in household budgets, and the party shares in a party preference survey. I am particularly interested in modelling compositions over time (especially party shares), and I have developed a method for compositional smoothing (compositional loess). I am also working with applied statistics in archaeology with Mikael Larsson and in philosophy with Martin Jönsson

Teaching

I teach theoretical and applied statistics and quantitative research methods on different levels: undergraduate, advanced and within PhD programmes. Particularly sampling/survey research and regression analysis are favourite topics of mine.

Outreach

I have on multitude of occasions given lectures and advice to NGOs, authorities, and companies.
