Research

The overall objective of my Ph.D. project is to study HIV evolution both within and between hosts to identify key regulators of HIV disease progression and spread. More specifically, (1) to identify and characterize key drivers of HIV transmission and molecular epidemiology in Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau; and (2) to characterize the blood proteome during acute HIV-1 infection, and disentangle HIV-1 selection, evolution, and adaptation in patients with different rates of disease progression.
