Personal profile

Research

Being an upper GI surgeon I have worked first with ulcer disease and cancer, but the last two decades primarily with obesity. Founded the Scandinavian Obesity surgery Registry (SOReg) that now covers > 98% of all bariatric surgery in Sweden. My current research interest is the effect on obesity comorbidities of surgery-induced weight reduction, using both registry studies, classical patient studies and animal studies. As regards diabetes I am the link between the Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC) and the clinical patient material.
