Personal profile

Research

My interest is to develop biocatalysts combining computational methods and recombinant technology. I mainly focus on understanding proteins' structure and function for the rational design of catalysts and engineering cells as living catalysts. These approaches find applications in environmental biotechnology, functional food technologies, biorefinery, and the production of bioactive compounds. My research encompasses various areas, including the degradation of plastics, biosynthesis of biopolymers, valorization of lignocellulose biomass, and development of prebiotics and probiotic products.

Innovation: I serve as a scientific consultant for biotech companies in Sweden. I also co-founded CycleZyme AB, primarily focusing on plastic recycling through deep biotechnology.

 

Teaching

I am involved in teaching at all three academic levels. I serve as the course coordinator for Environmental Biotechnology (KBTF11) and co-coordinator for Bioprocess Technology (KBTF15) and Sustainable Chemistry & Biotechnology (KBTF06). Additionally, I provide lectures in Environmental Chemistry (KASF01) and Sustainable Food Processing and Packaging (KLGN65). Occasionally, I offer instruction in producing recombinant proteins and bioinformatic analysis of proteins for doctoral students who do not have a background in these areas.
