Research

The two research topics I am currently researching are
1) "House Dreams, home-making and sustainability". I study A: real estate ads, on the one hand on Hemnet, on the other older ephemeral print and newsmedia, and B:  reality TV, specifically what I term "property TV". I focusing on the theme of sustainability in terms of cultural perspectives and attitudes to renovation and energy in various forms of house dreams and dream house projects.
2) Game cultural studies: A) a project on gender and equality in game design companies and their practical implementation of gender reseach' findings that the business/culture still is unequal and segregated.

Since 2008 I am Project Manager & Editor for the journal Game Studies, the running of which 2021-2023 is funded by by grants from VR and NOS-H awarded me as project manager of the Game Studies Foundation, which I co-founded in 2011.

I have previously studied game love, how players engage with games in various ways,  "problematic gaming," that is gaming as potential addiction,  "gaming moms",  a study of gaming and gender in everday life.

I have writen on play, and its interrelation with health and crises and reality TV focusing on the show The Biggest Loser and on mobility and travel.

All my research is feminist in nature and interested in the mobilization (in all its manifestations: social, political, economical, cultural etc...)  of female-identified subjects. I often find food for research in popular cultural phenomena, in analogue as well as digital media. I find TV-series and advertisements very interesting mirrors of contemporary life and history.

I have a pre-academic background in alternative health. I am a Certified Physical Therapist, certified coach and have two years of training from the painting program at the art school Dômen, Göteborg. I am passionate about creativity and practice it as often as I can in all domains.

When I don't research I head the Division ALM, Digital Cultures and Publishing Studies at the Department of Arts & Cultural Sciences. 2024-2026 I serve as deputy head of department and 2023-2026 as member of the Academic Appointments Board at the HT-Faculty

I am happy to collaborate and network with people and organizations at other institutions, universities, as well as businesses and industry outside the academic realm.
