Research

I am a PhD student from Guangzhou, with a background in history from South China Normal University, where I wrote my thesis on the writings of Emmanuel Diaz concerning the so-called Nestorian Stele — or more accurately, the Jingjiao Stele — in Xi’an. This research resulted in a compilation and annotated edition of Emmanuel Diaz’s texts, which has been published as part of Chinese Works of Western Missionaries in the Late Ming and Early Qing. After completing my Master’s degree in history at the University of Edinburgh, I joined Lund University, where my current research focuses on how Confucian intellectuals of 18th- and 19th-century Qing China engaged with the Jingjiao Stele.
