Teaching

I teach and supervise mainly in intellectual property law, media law and market law – including marketing law, competition law and business regulation – as well as EU law, IT Law (including data protection law), general private law and other areas of business law. I have over ten years of teaching experience, covering all levels (first to third cycle) and diverse modes of instruction. I am course manager for five courses at the Department of Business Law: EU Law (HARG21), Intellectual Property, Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (HARN52), Bachelor Thesis in Business Law (HARH13), Intellectual Property and Trade (HARN54), and Master Thesis in European and International Trade Law (HARN63). I have completed several courses in university teaching, learning and supervision and also undertaken research supervision training. I currently supervise two doctoral students.

Research

My research is primarily focused on intellectual property law, media law and market law – including marketing law, competition law and business regulation – as well as EU law, IT Law (including data protection law), general private law and other areas of business law. I am especially interested in issues stemming from the interaction of law and new technology – for example, artificial intelligence, social media and the Internet of Things – and related methodological aspects. I am also interested in the function and relevance of law and other norms for sustainable development.

In addition to my doctoral thesis (a monograph), I have published over 20 articles – most of them in English – in leading Nordic and international law journals and anthologies. I am Head of Unit (subject group lead) for Market and Media Law at Lund University Centre for Business Law, and I am a member of the management team of the Centre. I am also a research associate at the Institute for Intellectual Property and Market Law (IFIM) and the Swedish Law and Informatics Research Institute (IRI) – both at Stockholm University. I have been a visiting researcher at Columbia Law School (New York), the Institute for Information Law at the University of Amsterdam, and the Norwegian Research Center for Computers and Law (SERI) at the University of Oslo.

Outreach

I am member and secretary of the board of the Swedich Copyright Society (SFU), as well as a representative of the Swedish group and member of the exectuve committee of the International Literary and Artistic Association (ALAI). I am also an adjunct member of the board of the Swedish Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. In addition, I am a member of several professional organisations in my main fields of research and teaching, such as the International Association for the Advancement of Teching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP), the Swedish Network for European Legal Studies (SNEF), the Swedish Association for Competiation and Market Law (KMF) and the Swedish Association for Law and IT (SIJU). Through my engagement in these organisations, I am regularly organising or participating as a speaker at conferences and seminars related to my main fields of research and teaching.

I am also editor in chief of the law journal Nordiskt Immateriellt Rättsskydd (Nordic Intellectual Property Law Review, NIR). NIR is i a "Level 2" journal according to theso-called Norwegian list (the Norwegian Scientific Index), where “Level 2” is superior than “Level 1” and it is reserved for the internationally most prestigious journals and publishers.

During 2006-2007 and 2014-2015, I was secretary to two governmental investigations related to intellectual property, and I have in addition spent more than a decade advising the Swedish Ministry of Justice on intellectual property matters and represents regularly the Swedish Government in international negotiations on intellectual property rights in fora such as WIPO, the specialised agency within the UN for intellectual property, and the EU.
