Research

My PhD project focuses on the impact of urbanization on organismal health and biodiversity. It is a broad study and includes tree, insects, birds and children. The aim is to investigate the interactions taking place in the cities, e.g. how avian health is affected by local prey diversity, or how the well-being of school children is impacted by contact with nature. Much of my work focuses on the complex relationship between trophic levels and diet, together with a broader perspective, where urban nature is evaluated as an ecosystem service.

My fascination for urban ecology stems from an interest in biology, together with the aim to produce knowledge applicable to some of the largest challenges our society faces today. As the majority of the world population now live in urban settlements, and urbanization keeps increasing, I find that these interactions are equally important as they are interesting to study.
