Current Research

Current research entails three specific projects. The first project focuses on conditionality, social policy transformations and social investments by analyzing effects of retracted school allowances in Swedish Upper-Secondary Education, using register data from CSN. Planned output include journal articles presenting driving factors of found effects, comparative analyses with other cash trasnfer programs in Europe, the U.S. and Latin America, as well as theoretical grounding in a framework of segmented assimilation.

The second project analyzes the role of international migrant organizations in labour market integration processes in Sweden, using register data from the Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society (MUCF) and data collected in interviews with individual organizations. Funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg (MMW) Foundation, it involves collaboration with researchers at the Office of Population Research (OPR), Princeton University.

The third project pertains to the global quest for talent, particularly STEM (i.e. science, technology, engineering, and math) migration in the Swedish labour market, using register data from Statistics Sweden in collaboration with the Center for Economic Demography (CED), Lund University.
