I’m a PhD student in the project “Burying Problems? Imaginaries of Carbon Capture and Storage in Scandinavia”, together with my colleague Lina Lefstad and our supervisors, Wim Carton and Henner Busch.
Within the project I’m going to try to understand different and conflicting visions of a future adoption of negative emissions technologies in Scandinavia, and how such visions affect and are affected by culture, politics, and market forces. I’m particularly interested in understanding which imaginaries of the future that are nurtured and institutionalised, which visions that are rejected, and how that process relates to underlying political economic drivers. Justice aspects of energy transitions are a central part of this – who gets to participate in choosing our common future?
I’m also interested in science fiction portrayals of how humanity reacts to the climate crisis, and how art and literature can serve as inspiration for finding radical solutions to the ecological crisis.
