Personal profile

Research

I work on a variety of research topics related to sustainable use of materials and the built environment. My main research field is currently related to service life assessment of wood in exposed applications, ranging from timber bridges to facades and timber decks. Naturally, this work involves the study of water and its interaction with timber members.

By improving our understanding and capabilities to predict wood moisture conditions, we can facilitate better design choices and enable more accurate cost (monetary and environmental). Methods used in this work includes laboratory measurements and outdoor monitoring, numerical analysis, machine learning, image and signal analysis, environmental analysis and more. I am also working to make my research results available through design guidelines and web applications.
