Research

Jonatan Wistrand's ongoing research investigates how the doctor who becomes ill relates to the patient role and how the doctor who has been a patient relates to his/her professional role. The study draws on literary stories - narratives - written by doctors during different eras, and applies a narratological stance to the interpretation of these stories. Other research interests are university history and medical knowledge exchange in the Baltic Sea area during the 20th century.
