Personal profile

I specialise in intellectual property law, particularly copyright law.

In 2021 I defended my PhD thesis Copyright in the Age of Access to Legal Digital Content at Uppsala University which investigates copyright protection from a user perspective and focuses on lawful access to protected content. The thesis comprehensively considers the scope of copyright protection, copyright exceptions, sanctions, the relationship to human rights and consumer protection law, and is characterised by a cross-disciplinary approach encompassing both regulation by technology and contractual practices on the digital market.

Beyond the confines of my doctoral reserarch, I have co-authored an accessible book on EU copyright law and co-edited an international publication on employees' intellectual property rights, which is in its second edition, and participated in numerous external research projects on copyright law and regulation of autonomous systems.

My current research interests centre on the intersection of copyright and human rights, platform liability as well as sustainable approaches to technological regulation of contractual arrangements with consumers, online intermediaries, and the research sector.

I believe that outreach is fundamental for effective dissemnation of research results and academic existence in such a dynamic and polarised field of law as intellectual property law, especially copyright law. It is the reason why I participate in the public debate.

My outreach activity is multi-faceted and covers participation in national and international conferences, organisation of events, research visits, publication activity, and participation in media. But I also try to be active outside such traditional frames. I often use social media to disseminate research results, information about legal developments or events, and participate in conferences, seminars and workshops outside of academia. Some examples of such fora include the American Chamber of Commerce in Sweden, the Swedish Intellectual Property Office (PRV), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) or the Danish Commmittee for the Protection of Scientific Works (UBVA).

My pedagogical practice has also relevance for disseminating knowledge about my fields of expertise as I regularly teach on programmes at technical schools, especially at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).
