Karsten Åström, LLD and PhD h.c. is a professor emeritus in Sociology of Law at Lund University and former Guest professor in Welfare Law at Linköping University. Since the early 1980s, he has been engaged in interdisciplinary research on legislative processes, implementation and the effects of laws, particularly welfare law. In recent years he has also researched legal professions, court experts and "access to justice".
