Personal profile

Research

I study wage development and the differences in wages by gender and work type in Sweden's early modern period.

Through this I interrogate assumptions about gendered labor markets and labor markets in general, as well as the strength of the methods used in historical wage studies.

My research is motivated by the desire to understand what influenced the lives and decision making of individuals and households in the past, and to extend the research frontier to groups which have typically been less visible in the historical record.

Teaching

I teach the foundations of early modern economic development on the bachelor level, explaining the patterns of growth that allowed the emergence of modern economic growth in the modern period.
