Research

I am Associate Professor in Social Work and hold a PhD in Social Anthropology from Lund University. My doctoral dissertation (2006) is an ethnographic study of the renegotiation of intergenerational obligations and expectations in Chinese middle-class families in contemporary Singapore. My research interests primarily concern parenting cultures, parents' educational work, gender and ethnographic methods.
