Research

Doctoral Student, registered Occupational Therapist (OTR), Master of Arts

I have been a Ph.D. student at Lund University in the Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science research group since 2014. My project focuses on the evaluation of the Balancing Everyday Life (BEL) program, a lifestyle intervention for people with mental disorders, using quantitative and qualitative methods.

I studied occupational therapy and occupational science at the University of Southern California (USC) where I received my Bachelor degree in 1996 and my Master’s in 1998. One of my Master’s projects was to travel to Sweden and compare the health care system to the U.S. and how it affected the delivery of occupational therapy services. I have taught occupational therapy at the undergraduate level at USC and Lund University. Before my doctoral studies I worked as a project administrator for an evaluation of the Redesigning Daily Occupations (ReDO) program in Malmö, Sweden.

My experience includes working in community-based settings with at-risk children and probation youth in Los Angeles, skilled nursing, mental health, as well as job modification and adapted high-tech equipment for people with visual impairments. I also have experience as a freelance writer and editor.
