Personal profile

Research

Inorganic, coordination, bio-inorganic and organometallic chemistry in liquid and solid phase, in particular reaction kinetics and mechanisms for exchange-, substitution-, and electron transfer processes in solution. Transition metal chemistry.  Homogeneous catalysis. Fast chemical reactions in solution, studied also under high-pressure and cryo-temperature conditions, by use of stopped-flow techniques and NMR. Mechanisms for rapid rearrangements in organometallic complexes. Reaction mechanisms for anti-cancer active metal complexes and drug candidates, in particular interactions between platinum complexes and biomolecules. Atmospheric chemistry: metal catalyzed processes for sulfuric acid formation in the atmospheric aqueous phase. Chemical processes in marine archaeological species, viz. cellulose degradation by acid hydrolysis and free radical processes and redox chemistry of iron and sulfur compounds.
