Research

I am a practicing neuropsychologist in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Sunderby Hospital in Norrbotten County. I took my psychologist degree in 1984, received my licence in 1986 and earned the Swedish Association of Registered Psychologists’ specialist level in neuropsychology in 2000. I defended my thesis in Health sciences at Luleå University of Technology in 2010. In my thesis project, I evaluated the life situation of people with traumatic brain injury 6-15 years after their injury. Combined with my employment at Norrbotten County Council, I am also lecturer in the Department of Health Sciences, Luleå University of Technology.

I am part of the Rehabilitation Medicine Research Group and in my research I am evaluating the possibilities for transferring, using and evaluating rehabilitation experiences of acquired brain injury for rehabilitating patients with Parkinson’s disease and MCI (Mild Cognitive Impairment). In 2013 I finished the data collection of a second follow-up of the same individuals that were part of my thesis in 2010. I am also part of a project surveying different assessment tools, including life satisfaction in people with traumatic brain injury. I am together with Jan Lexell och Christina Brogårdh supervisor for Lina Rosengren. In her thesis work she is exploring life stisfaction among people with Parkinson’s disease.
