Lars Jonung is professor emeritus at the Knut Wicksell Centre for Financial Studies, Department of Economics, Lund University, Sweden, since 2010. He served as chairman of the Swedish Fiscal Policy Council 2012-13. He was Research Advisor at DG ECFIN, European Commission, Brussels, 2000-2010, working on European macroeconomic issues. Prior to moving to Brussels, he was professor in economics at the Stockholm School of Economics, Stockholm. Jonung served as chief economic adviser to Prime Minister Carl Bildt in 1992-94. His research covers monetary and fiscal policy, inflationary expectations, the euro, the economics of European integration, and the history of Swedish economic thought. Recently he has published work jointly with Fredrik NG Andersson on the inflation targeting regime of the Riksbank. He is the author of several books and articles in English and Swedish. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, 1975.
