Research

Lea Christierson has a background in Engineering Physics with a master’s degree in computational mechanics. After graduating in 2021, she pursued her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering where she aims to implement a virtual simulation model of heart valves to predict valve repair outcomes in children with heart disease. The simulation model is built using fluid-structure interaction (FSI), which combines computational fluid dynamics and finite element modeling, based on patient-specific valve geometries obtained from 3D ultrasound images.
