The current research project aims to highlight which influence the labour market’s stakeholders, that is employers' organizations and trade unions, have had on the formulation and application of the protection against discrimination for women in law and collective agreements.
In a legislative context "the labour market’s stakeholder-values" (arbetsmarknadens parters värderingar) is an established concept. Lena Svenaeus is interested in these values’ content and function over a period stretching from 1950 until 2009. Particular focus lies on how different types of norm-collisions have been resolved when adaptation to international conventions on women's rights has been required.
This involves the introduction of the principles of the 1951 ILO Convention No. 100 on equal pay for equal work, also the norms of the UN Women's Convention in relation to the 1980 Act on Equality between women and men, and finally the "encounter" between the collective labour law (kollektiva arbetsrätten) and the EU law perspective of protecting individuals.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
