Research

My PhD project focuses on Ecological compensation, a land use policy developed to mitigate negative environmental effects of exploitation, on biodiversity and ecosystem services. In practice this means that values lost due to exploitations are compensated for elsewhere. Existing forms of compensation measures from an international perspective as well as completed compensation projects in Sweden will be examined with the overall objective to gain understanding of how (or whether) ecological compensation can help to achieve biodiversity goals and how social and economic factors are involved in such and achievement.

I have an interdisciplinary environmental science background (BSc and MSc) from Linköping University. In my master’s thesis I was looking at the development of sustainable urban districts in Sweden, with main focus on the municipal planning process.
