Research
I research the political economy and distributional consequences of structural change, focusing on labour market dynamics and the industrial policy implications for social justice and inclusion. My expertise lies in Sub-Saharan Africa, with particular attention to Mauritius and Ethiopia, and issues related to social sustainability, gender, and migrant labour. I am part of Lund University’s interdisciplinary Agenda 2030 Graduate School.
I am also a Research Fellow at the African Union’s Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), where I contribute to the African Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (ASTII) initiative. Through capacity-building programmes and research partnerships supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), my work aims to strengthen STI measurement and monitoring across the continent to support evidence-based policymaking for socio-economic transformation.

Professional work
I am part of the core Lund University team delivering the ASTII initiative in partnership with AUDA-NEPAD and funded by Sida. This has included teaching on its flagship capacity-building course, ‘Transformation, Innovation, and Resilience for Sustainable Development’ for 80 African civil servants for four consecutive years, support with drafting the Phase 5 programme proposal, and moderating regional consultative meetings in Sweden, Ethiopia and South Africa with alumni and other experts on how to align policy for industrial transformation.
In 2019, I oversaw and coordinated phase 2 of the Green Assets Wallet project, the first blockchain platform for validating green bonds and reporting on green impact. Prior, I worked as a Sustainability Consultant for EY. Between 2015 and 2018, I held six-month internships at the UNDP in Ethiopia, Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm and the Embassy of Sweden in Rwanda.
