Professional work

I am currently employed as a Bioinformatician at NBIS and Lund University. My main role here is to support the short and medium term NBIS projects. I am enthusiastic about implementing computational tools and techniques to answer different biological questions. 


I have mainly worked with microbiology projects in terms of their ecology and evolution. The main toolset that I have used to investigate these factors were of bioinformatics and genomics. My main project in my PhD was to understand soil microbial communities and the related ecosystem functioning in terms of the genetic poteinal at the community level. I developed molecular methods to understand their functional potential to degarde organic matter in soil and how soil management techniques affected their potential. I was mostly working with metagenomics, metatranscriptomics and amplicon sequncing in this project.

I got interested in evolutionary biology I decided to work on this topic for my postdoc. In my postdoc in Vienna, I mainly worked with an archaeal superphyla called "Asgard" and their genomics. These archaea are very interesting in their genomic features in terms of Eukaryote evolution. This work involved also working with metagenomics, metatranscriptomics togther with other methods like genome binning, genome annotations, phylogenetics and phylogenomics.


  • Teaching assistant in “Workshop on Genomics” during 2016 in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic.
  • Taught in biological courses such as amplicon sequencing analysis, genomics and transcriptomics
  • Taught also in computational courses such as Introduction to Bioinformatics, PERL and python.
  • Taught in ecological courses such as terrestrial ecology and basic molecular genetics.
