Personal profile

Research

My research focuses on type 2 diabetes, metabolism and complications in vulnerable populations. I am PI for the MEDIM study consisting of a cohort of 2200 participants, a culturally adapted randomized controlled lifestyle intervention study and an experimental metabolic study. The MEDIM has contributed to three thesis at Lund University. See a more detailed description of MEDIM's output under Projects and Dissertations.

I am regional PI for the nationwide multicenter clinical trial SMARTEST, sponsored by Uppsala University. The study seeks to answer the question of whether SGLT2 inhibitors to a greater extent than metformin protect against the onset of diabetic complications, in people who have recently developed type 2 diabetes.

Further I am PI for a project within COVERS at Lund University, studying attitudes towards participating in a vaccination program.
