Personal profile

Research

My primary research fields are international trade and economic integration. In addition, I work together with biologists and ecologists on research projects about forestry and biodiversity.

Some examples of concrete ongoing research projects:

1. Is there more trade between Denmark and Sweden as a result of the Öresund bridge? (cooperation with Christian Soegaard at the University of Warwick and Anna Welander Tärneberg at the Centre for Economic Demography)

2. Does the precise design of EU trade policy programs affect exports of the poorest countries?

3. Can you get more cross-border trade by reducing border bureaucracy? A causal study of the introduction of "One Stop Border Posts" in Kenya (with Kevin Svensson)

4. How is the growth and survival of biologically valuable oak forests affected by competition and grazing? (with Anna Monrad Jensen at Linneaus University and Magnus Löf and Annika Felton at SLU).

5. Is the behavior of private forest owners affected by biodiversity laws? (with Anna Monrad Jensen at Linneaus University)

Teaching

My current teaching is intermediate and master-level economic integration. I am also the supervisor for a large number of bachelor's and master's level theses.

In addition, I have previously taught introductory international economics and master-level trade theory.
