Personal profile

Research

My research area focuses on cognition and aging. I primarily use data from the longitudinal study "Good Aging in Skåne" (GÅS project) and data from Epihealth.
I am interested in exploring how we can use test results from cognitive testing to identify early stages of dementia, sometimes referred to as mild cognitive impairment (MCI). I have also conducted research on cohort differences, where we have investigated if generations differ cognitively. For instance, is the prevalence or incidence of mild cognitive impairment decreasing? Additionally, I am interested in whether there are factors that influence the reversibility of mild cognitive impairment.
Within our research group, we examine how various diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, kidney failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease affect cognition in older adults.
A new and important area of interest involves sleep, specifically how long or short nighttime sleep and how longer naps during the day can affect cognition in both the short and long term. Do various sleep disturbances lead to dementia?
