Research

Max's research is situated in the fields of competition law and EU law. In his doctoral thesis, he explored the role of market failures within EU competition law and State aid law. This research clarified the role of broader efficiencies in competition analysis, including sustainability and innovation. It examined legal challenges to sustainbility agreements and R&D cooperation among firms within the framework of competition law.

Max's scholarly contributions are marked by a dedicated focus on empirical research methodologies and a semi-interdisciplinary approach to understanding competition law and regulation. 

Teaching

Max's teaching includes: competition law, EU competition law, EU law, State aid law, internal market law and supervisions of bachelor's and master's theses.

Outreach

Max is part of the EU law research environment where he, together with his colleagues, organises seminars on EU-related topics within the EU law discussion group. 

Max has conducted peer reviews for  journals in the fields of competition law and EU law.

He was one of the founders and Editor-in-Chief on the Nordic Journal of European Law.
