Personal profile

Research

My current research is about the transformative and healing potential of art and aesthetics. I combine knowledge from art history and philosophy with findings from medicine and neuroscience, and with artistic research.

I am the research leader for the project Art Worlds Apart, funded by the Swedish Research Council 2022–2025, about knowledge exchange between the humanities and medicine on the potential of art in healthcare.

I am the coordinator, together with Martin Garwicz and Christine Wamsler, of the thematic collaboration initiative Existential Resilience: Contemplation, Aesthetics, Compassion (ERiCi), 2023–2025, comprising around twenty researchers and a number of external partners. The goal of ERiCi is to further existential sustainability.

I also work with education. I have started a commissioned education for healthcare staff in using the arts and aesthetics. I have also made commissioned research for the public healthcare agencies in Stockholm and Scania.
