Research

My area of interest as an archaeobotanical researcher concerns prehistoric plant use in Scandinavia. I defended my PhD in archaeology at Lund University in 2015 with the thesis Agrarian plant economy at Uppåkra and surrounding area, a study focusing on the agrarian economy between an Iron Age regional center and its surrounding agrarian community. The dissertation was awarded the Nils Karleby Foundation for Scanian Culture and History prize in 2018. As a PI, I have conceived the projects Manure matters, funded by the Swedish Research Council, and The Green Wealth, funded by the Crafoord Foundation. This research addresses new questions in prehistoric agricultural history, partly by providing new perspectives on economic conditions linked to subsistence strategies, and partly by conducting ground research to advance plant based isotopic (N and C) and morphometric methodology in archaeobotanical research.
