Personal profile

Research

I am a registered occupational therapist and professor of occupational therapy. Since the 1990s I lead research projects about everyday activities, well-being and quality of life among people with mental health problems. Descriptive studies, development and evaluation of interventions, as well as development of instruments, are included in this research. I head a research network – HOW (Health, Occupation and Wellbeing (HOW) – which has its focus on daily occupations, health, and well-being in different populations. I am also member of the Centre for Evidence-based Psychosocial Interventions for People with Severe Mental Illness (CEPI). One of my current projects is an RCT evaluating the effects of a lifestyle-based intervention targeting everyday activities for people with mental illness, aimed at improved balance between different activities, increased engagement in activities and improved satisfaction with life.
