Research

I am a certified teacher and earned my PhD in Education from Lund University in 1995. In 2006, I was appointed Associate Professor, and I have held a professorship since 2017. In 2023, I was appointed Professor of Educational Sciences specialized in schooling and the teaching profession, at Lund University. My research centers on theories of learning, particularly the development of variation theory, as well as practice-based educational research from early childhood to higher education. I have a special interest in subject-specific pedagogy and special didactics for individuals with ADHD and autism. I have been the principal investigator of ten externally funded research projects and served on the coordinator/management team of three research schools. Currently, I am Director of Doctoral Studies in Educational Sciences at Lund University, Vice Chair of the Academic Merit Review Board in Higher Education Pedagogy at LU/HT, a member of the Swedish Research Council's Committee for Educational Sciences, and a member of the editorial boards of three academic journals. Additionally, I lead a VR-funded research project on number sense in 5- to 6-year-olds and participate in an Erasmus project focused on higher education course development in Bhutan.
