Research

My research interests span different topics ranging from internal branding, employee identification, meaningful work, to an ongoing project on organizing space and time with a specific angle of organizing nights and working at night in and around organizations. A common aspect in all these topics, which fascinates me, is investigating the ways in which employees and managers experience their social realities: how do they experience different forms of control, how do they perceive their work tasks and the circumstances they are in, how do they manage and organize, and similar topics.

In the current project on nights in and around in organizations (funded by Vetenskapsrådet), we aim to investigate the night in organizations to better understand alternative ways of managing and organizing in circumstances that deviate from (daytime) norms. The insights are important for management and organization studies, as we not only gain knowledge about the night as specific 'state of exception', but we also can learn more about other, more unexpected, exceptional states in managing and organizing.
