Research

My dissertation project focuses on narratives about the relevance of Holocaust education in Swedish gymnasiums, since the establishment of this school form in 1965 and up the present, with a particular focus on today’s expressions in the classroom. By employing ethnographic methods, I will analyze both current and historical educational materials and perspectives from pupils and teachers. Of special interest are the meaning-making processes of pupils in relation to collective cultural memories in a multicultural society. This dissertation is part of the project "I folkmordets skugga: minne och erfarenhet av Förintelsen och antisemitism".

I am originally a cultural analyst with higher education in ethnology and comparative cultural studies from Germany (University of Regensburg), Poland (Jagiellonian University), and Sweden (Lund University). My previous research was mostly surrounding historical and educational questions with an extensive focus on museums and visitor experiences in exhibitions, which are still of interest to me today.

Today, I am happy to be a PhD student here at Lund University in the Department of History as a part of the National Graduate School of History.
