Personal profile

Research

I am a Chemical Engineer with a PhD in Materials Engineering and over 10 years of experience in scientific research and university teaching. My academic training and professional experience have taken place across several European universities, allowing me to adapt quickly and effectively to change while building a strong network of professional contacts.

My passion for research was solidified during my master’s thesis and my first professional role as a junior researcher at the Materials Research Institute in Athlone, Ireland, where I focused on the development and characterization of hydrogels for bone tissue engineering. I later graduated as a Chemical Engineer from the Universitat Politècnica de València.

My desire to continue in the field of research grew stronger during my doctoral studies at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and my postdoctoral work at Lund University, Sweden. I defended my doctoral thesis in February 2018, earning the distinction of Excellent (Cum Laude). I am currently a full-time Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University.

During my doctoral programme, my research focused on the development of polymeric systems derived from various biomass sources, such as agri-food sector waste, and their environmental assessment. The applications of these bio-based polymers included coatings, plastics, and medical devices. However, over the past eight years, my main research line has increasingly concentrated on the life cycle assessment of a wide range of products, including sustainable foods, nanoadsorbents, bioplastics, among others. I have actively participated in national and international projects, serving as a co-applicant, with my main contributions related to environmental studies. These research efforts have been recognized and published in international scientific journals.

As an Associate Senior Lecturer, I have extensive experience in university-level teaching, delivering courses in environmental science and supervising master’s and doctoral students. My supervision approach emphasizes critical thinking and research independence, preparing students for successful careers in both academia and industry.
