Research

Dr. Patricia Gerdes is a postdoctoral fellow in the Molecular Neurogenetics lab led by Prof. Johan Jakobsson at the Department of Experimental Medical Science, Lund University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Master of Science in Technical Biology from the Technische Universität Darmstadt in Germany. She then pursued a Ph.D. in Genetics at The University of Queensland, Australia, where she investigated the epigenetic regulation and activity of transposable elements in early embryonic development. Currently, Patricia's research involves using human and non-human primate brain organoids to explore the impact of transposable elements on human brain evolution.
