Personal profile

Research

Riikka has some 18 years of experience in the real estate field, both in academia and the industry. Motivated by the substantial environmental impact of the built environment, Riikka is passionate about bringing research findings into action. Her current research focuses on circular economy in the built environment, including solutions related to sharing and adaptation of buildings to new uses. She is part of the management team for the newly established LTH profile area Circular Building Sector. 

Teaching

Riikka has experience with first, second and third cycle teaching and supervision at LTH, Aalto University (FIN), and in continuous education. Her studies in Higher Education pedagogy have sparked an interest to try out different student-centered methods in Real Estate teaching. At LTH, she is responsible for the courses VFTF40 Business for the Built Environment, VFTN60 Real Estate Business, and VFTN65 Methods in Real Estate Economics and Management (shared course responsibility).

Riikka acts as the Director of Doctoral Studies at the Division of Real Estate Science.

Societal impact

DSc Kyrö is a member of the LTH Campus Board. The key task of the Board is to develop a new campus plan towards 2050.

Riikka is the Editor-in-Chief for the Nordic Journal of Surveying and Real Estate Research (NJSR) since 2016.
