Current Research:

I am finishing my PhD dissertation tentatively titled 'Seeing like Redevelopments: Rule, Resettlement and Change in Mumbai'. Building on an ethnographic exploration, I engage with two mega urban renewal projects, and multi-scaler and multi-site slum clearances, resettlements and socio-political dynamism. The project furthers situated understanding of three sets of academic literature: first, Marxist and postcolonial interpretations of capitalist urban redevelopments; second, poststructuralist interpretation of state powers in neoliberalism, governmentality and its critique; and third, urban and anthropological explorations of biopolitics and care. The thesis is a 'Kappa' or compilation dissertation with a comprehensive introduction and four journal articles.
