Current Research and Teaching

Roxanna Sjöstedt researches and teaches international relations and security studies, in particular on issues such as securitization, socialization, international interventions, norm diffusion, and epidemics. 

Sjöstedt is principal invistigator (PI) of the project 'The Consequences of Securitization' (ongoing), funded by Formas. She is also PI for the project 'All Aboard!? A multi-level analysis of societal security and preparedness in Sweden and Norway' (ongoing), funded by the Swedish Research Council.

Sjöstedt has also been PI for the project 'Intervention by Invitation. Why States ask for Help' (2018-2021), financed by the Swedish Research Council. She was also co-applicant and project member of the project 'Warlord Democrats' (2014-2017) financed by the Swedish Research Council and the Wallenberg foundation. Roxanna Sjöstedt has published several research articles in, for example, European Journal of International Security, Journal of Peace Research, Security Dialogue, Cooperation and Conflict, Foreign Policy Analysis, Journal of International Relations and Development, International Relations, and Journal of Political Science Education, as well as book chapters in edited volumes published by, among others, Oxford University Press and Routledge.

Roxanna Sjöstedt served as director of peace and conflict studies at Lund University 2017-2022, and lectures and supervises at all levels.
