Salar Haghighatafshar holds a Ph.D. in Water and Environmental Engineering from Lund University, 2019. His doctoral thesis was about urban stormwater management with focus on the systematic application of blue-green stormwater systems to mitigate flooding. He is employed as a researcher at Water and Environmental Engineering at Lund University (Faculty of Engineering, LTH) and is active in wastewater treatment processes and stormwater management in urban areas with focus on improving the design paradigm/practice in urban drainage as well as evaluation and optimization of blue-green stormwater systems in the broader citywide drainage perspective.
