Personal profile

Research

I am a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Law of Lund University. My research examines to which extent the regulatory framework containing the conformity assessment procedure for AI-driven medical devices is consistent with the right to health, and more specifically with its four pillars ‘availability’, ‘accessibility’, ‘acceptability’, and ‘quality’. My project focusses on AI-driven medical devices in precision medicine. This field of medicine classifies patients – based on their data – to optimise diagnosis and treatment.

Teaching

Before starting my doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law, I taught for more than three years at Universities in the Netherlands and Belgium. During these years, I taught a variety of courses on undergraduate level, including courses in International law, European law and data protection law. Further, I have supervised multiple Bachelor and Master theses in the field of IP and IT law. I have also coached student teams for the European Law Moot Court.

Professional work

Before working in academia, I have gained work experience in Brussels. I have worked as a Blue Book trainee at the Directorate General Connect of the European Commission. Moreover, I have been a legal researcher at a law and policy consultancy.
