Personal profile

Infrastructures, let them be digital or physical, are foundational building blocks of our civilization and affect the behavior of industries, institutions, firms, individuals, and other organizations. It might be a bit unrealistic to argue that railway, electricity, automobile, and information technologies would create and transform 20th and 21st century without their underlying infrastructures. However, each technology requires different levels of infrastructural investments - organizational, technological, financial, or political - in order to diffuse and be adopted by different stakeholders. These differences constitute my line of research. “How are large-scale and distributed spaces, such as digital infrastructures, being organized and led to the emergence of their corresponding industries?” is the overarching research question that leads my research activities. Currently, for my doctoral dissertation, I am studying how the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Europe is being organized and how that organizing leads to the emergence of EV charging industry on the European level. Overall, my research interests include digital infrastructures, industry emergence, technological transitions, and qualitative research methodology.
