Research

The formation and evolution of galaxies is a majpr topic in astrophysics. In the Universe a star like the sun is most likely found in a galaxy similar to the Milky Way, our home in the Universe. By studying the Milky Way in great detail we can learn about galaxy formation and evolution in general.

I have chosen to work on understanding how the Milky Way formed. In particular, I am working with the information from stars, such as their ages, elemental abundances and motions in the Galaxy - so called Near Field Cosmology.

I am a member of ongoing and future massive spectroscopic surveys of the Milky Way, including the on-going Gaia-ESO Survey and the future surveys to be conducted with WEAVE and 4MOST.
