Personal profile

Research

I am a Danish performing artist, researcher and teacher who works in the field between theory, research and performance. I did my artistic PhD at Theater and Performance Studies, University of Copenhagen, and I am now a lecturer at Malmö Theater Academy.

My artistic practice is research-based and I write, perform and direct with a focus on reenactment, documentary strategies and the meeting between fiction and reality. It is my goal to create art, which provides an aesthetic, sensory and intellectual experience and which at the same time creates new spaces for thinking by combining knowledge and performance.

I am a trained performer from London and Buenos Aires and I have a MA Comperative Literature and Modern Culture from Copenhagen and Paris. I have taught for several years at Den Danske Scenekunstskole and at Theater and Performance Studies at the University of Copenhagen.

My PhD-project Thinking with Performance: Research-Based Aesthetics in Times of Conflict and Crisis is an artistic research project, where I investigate how to think critically with performance. On the backdrop of my artistic work, I discuss how research-based performance reacts to conflicts and crises and creates spaces for thinking where artist and audience can reflect on the represented material.

The project has two dimensions: On the one hand, I create two performances with different research strategies. On the other hand, I discuss a research-based working mode, which can be seen in many artistic practices that use, create and perform research to imagine other ways of being in the world. My two performances focus on conflicts in the social body and in the individual body.

Precarious life is a performance lecture, where I compare terror and autoimmune diseases. This is for her is a performance about torture and therapy, where I use reenactments of personal testimonies to reflect on the past. The project is based on these two preformances where I work artistically with research, while developing a conceptual framework for research-based aesthetics.
