Stig Nyman holds a PhD in information systems. His research centres around questions related to data and algorithmic technologies at work. His recent work explores counter narratives to the current framings of workplace datafication as a means to create more encompassing and instantaneous forms of managerial oversight, coordination and control. Drawing upon the Scandinavian legacy of trade union collaborations in information systems and informatics research, Stig's work recast data and algorithms at work as a political tool and means for collective action. This line of research raises fundamental questions about worker co-determination and ownership over data, including how AI reshape work and labour relations and organizing.
